The SAEJ4002 3DH dummy is a high-precision measurement device with independent intellectual property rights that Shenmei Company has devoted itself to developing in recent years. The H-point device is used to establish reference points for a vehicle's internal structure and occupant space dimensions, and to verify the positions and physical dimensions of these key reference points during inspections.
Compared to the SAEJ826 dummy device, it offers the following advantages:
Compared to the SAEJ826 device, the main changes in the SAEJ4002 device include improved repeatability, greater ease of use, the addition of several components to enhance measurement capabilities, and minimizing the impact of these improvements on reference point locations and other measured values as much as possible.
(1) Separate Components
For the HPM-II, the legs (thighs and lower legs), shoes, seat pan, and back panel are completely separate components. This makes installation more convenient.
(2) Legless Model
A major advantage of the HPM-II is that it allows the H-point to be determined without attaching the legs. The new procedure for installing the HPM-II does not require the legs to be attached. However, the legs may be attached if desired.
(3) Footwear
Several improvements have been made to the footwear and how it is positioned on the vehicle. These include:
① The distance from the ball of the foot to the heel of the shoe has been changed to 200 mm
② A new pedal reference point (PRP) has been established
③ A more comprehensive procedure for shoe placement has been developed
(4) Seat Cushion Angle
The new setup allows for the measurement of the seat cushion angle independently of the thigh angle, while also enabling the measurement of other dimensions. Previously, seat cushion angle measurements were based on the thigh line and required a separate HPM installation.
(5) Lumbar Support
The hinged mechanism of the backrest assembly allows the HPM-II to sit more effectively on contoured seats, and it also provides a new measurement parameter—Lumbar Support Projection (LSP). This parameter indicates the amount of support provided by the seatback's contoured surface to the lumbar spine.
